Each Sunday I publish The Portugal Civics Issue (TPCI): a source-rigorous, curiosity-led study of Portugal’s history, institutions, and citizen rights — the material covered by the new TNIC civic exam required for Portuguese citizenship.
Every issue is anchored in primary Portuguese sources: the Diário da República, the Constitutional Court, the Presidency, the Assembleia da República. No secondhand summaries. No guessing.
The publication is fully independent. It is not affiliated with the Portuguese government, AIMA, or any prep service competing for the same readers and test takers.
I'm doing this alongside my two teenage sons, who'll become Portuguese citizens with me — so this isn't abstract for us. Whether your family is headed for Lisbon, Porto, the Algarve, or somewhere in between, and whether you're coming from Brazil, France, Germany, the US, or anywhere else in the diaspora, the new TNIC exam, the NIF paperwork, the AIMA appointments, and the NHR questions look the same from where we're standing: confusing, until we walk it together.
